Dream Weapons present: BREEZING UP C90

It’s just a lighthearted, summer mix for you all to enjoy in the warm breeze. Gorgeous songs and melodies that sometimes has a slight edge (like a guitarist using a fuzz pedal O:), but not enough to ruin the generally pleasant mood. Dream Weapons present: AGE OF GOLD C60

Was the post-war era of 1950-1960 an age of gold - or a golden age? I don’t know, probably for those who were young back then. Youth is everyone's golden era, so I could have written exactly that about almost any period of time. But post-war is surely better than war. I stole the title from Bunuels surrealist movie L’Age d’Or (well, the english title), because it has this nice, nostalgic ring to it. By now it probably goes without saying that: here's another hour of intercontinental golden oldies! Guess I said it anyway. Nothing but highlights here! I think that every single time I share a mix though -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE WELCOME PUNCH C60:

I threw a party for my birthday not long ago, and on the cover you can see me eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first guests. The idea was to compile music for that first hour at a party - or any kind of festive gathering. There’s a lot of considerations to be taken. It’s basically background music for conversing, but it needs to be fun and hold a semi-danceable beat - although no one’s gonna dance just yet. If you don’t have a party planned sometime in the near future, pour yourself a drink, play this  - and pretend. That’s the magic of music -Moahaha

-For the four of you that downloaded the mix shortly after I posted it: I had to take down and re-upload everything, as there was a strange "skip-issue" with song no. 4 (White Salt) - now replaced with Sahara

1 Franco Micalizzi - L'ultimo Cacciatore (Seq. 5)
2 Jef Gilson feat. Célia - Le Blanc Coton
3 Jackie DeShannon - Effervescent Blue
4 Hans Stockhold - Sahara
5 Kirsti Sparboe - Hvem Har Sagt Jeg Savner Deg
6 Catherine Spaak - Sogni E Niente Più
7 Jacques Loussier  - Clara's Jerk
8 Ellie Greenwich - You Don't Know
9 Retta Young & The Devotions - The Dawning of Love
10 Orkest Ruud Bos - Sexy Music
11 Maria Creuza - Amor de Mae
12 Etienne Cap and his Orchestra - Luna Di Miele

13 Hagood Hardy & the Montage - I'll Take Love

Dream Weapons present: (STOP AND) SMELL THE ROSES C60

It’s summer and sunny outside. I feel that it's time for another golden hour of oldies.  Eleven songs and (as often before) eleven matching instrumentals. Like my previous «A Million Dreams Ago» this collection contains nothing but oh so lovely, long forgotten* non-rockin’ delights from the 1950’s. And that’s what the world needs right now. At least here in my world -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: TILL THE END O' THE WORLD WITH YOU C60

Alternatively «dance till the end o’ the world with you». Another collection of both schmaltzy and gently romantic oldies. A soft focus on latin jazz, jazz fusion and just plain ol' jazz. Lovely tunes with a pleasant groove. Gently spiced with lightly singing voices. I reccomend you press play and relax yourself with some really nice music for an hour -Moahaha

BTW: Lately I've been seeing that spinning wheel just as often as the actual Audius-player in these latest posts of mine. And while this post is relatively "popular", it's got next to no streams at all. Dream Weapons present: THE SHRINE C90

The Shrine was a fraternal publication distributed to members from 1926–1928. Freemasonry feel like a bizarre anachronism to me. Yet to me these nearly century old magazine-covers are timeless works of captivating beauty. And that’s why I reworked the very first Shrine publication for another intercontinental mix of shellac-era oldies. It’s intended to match the charm and mystique of its musical content - and vice versa -Moahaha

-I’ve made quite a few 78RPM-era collections by now. Just press the Oldies-tag and among a few exotica/xmas/easy listening/latin-mixes (containing both very old, and some slightly less old songs) you’ll find about a dozen C60/C90’s containing nothing but a century - up to six decade old music.

Dream Weapons present: MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS C60

What better day than March 8 to drop another female fronted, roundabout route kind of mixtape? Much like Exploradora, Woman of the World, Take Over!, Sing it, Sister (originally shared on IWD, 2020) and A Song in the Blood before - Mothers & Daughters initially started out with me collecting a bunch of songs I've discovered over the years - that I love. But as I have a slight preference for woman’s singing voices, compilations like these simply occurs. Fourteen enchanting and lovingly performed songs (plus six instrumentals) that should do good for both your mental and physical well being. Although musically a little all over the place, I think this hour flows along quite nicely -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE HUMMINGBIRDS C60

Outside my window its all grey and the rain is pouring down. I find myself in need of a mindtrip with a summerly sort of vibe. Which is exactly what I’m offering you all as well.

-The Americas is the natural habitat of the hummingbird and Latin America is primarily where they live. Much like my similarly themed: La Flor De Sur and Southwards before, I’ve collected a dozen sweet old songs and almost as many (dance) tunes - either originating from, or inspired by musical traditions from  somewhere south of Miami. Or maybe south of Key West. Once again prepare yourself for melodramatic voices, great melodies, infectious rhythms and much beauty! -Moahaha

Remember feeling free, doing nothing, riding a bike with that girl or boy that became your best friend while on holiday? Or maybe you befriended a neighborhood cat. I always did. A warm and loving bittersweet farewell to the last breath of summer. Also, the actual songs here are mostly catchy, fun and (from) all over the place -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: DARK SWEETS C90

My official mixtape "debut" from some time in late 2011. Until then I had only made compilations for myself, a few friends, former girlfriends and my wife. I’m thankful that oVo contacted me and invited me to join inn on सølγ שаябlɛş. This was the first of the two contributions I shared before it got shut down and Owl went incognito. Pretty much.

As the years have gone by I’ve found additional info and learned that what I thought was a mix filled exclusively with pre-rock 78RPM-era tunes has three songs from the 1960’s on it. But they sure sound older!

The version I'm sharing here is almost identical, but better sounding and hopefully better looking too. Here's how I presented it back when it was originally shared:

-Dark Sweets is actually a by-product of compiling hours and hours of 50 – 100 year old music from all over the world for a New Years Eve party. For this mix I singled out my favorites tunes among the obscure tracks ripped directly from 78’s. I’ve added a few hits from my own collection but tried to stay away from any tracks I’ve discovered on other comps and mixtapes. So this should be a unique listening experience for most of you -Moahaha

1. Ukulele Ike - Night Owl 1933
2. Zarah Leander - Jag Har Hört I Vindens Sus En Gång 1938
3. Victor Young - Hebrew Chant 1947
4. Cab Calloway and His Orchestra - Evenin’ 1933
5. Woody Herman - Marakesh 1955

Dream Weapons present: A MILLION DREAMS AGO C60

This is the sort of music I imagine concerned moms and dads of the 1950’s were listening to while their rebellious teens were discovering the Devil’s music - aka rock ’n’ roll. Dream Weapons present: SYRINX RADIO C60

As we enter another epoch in the collaboration corridor of DW, this time the obscure music hoarders at Radio Alhara reached out and asked if we could supply them with a mixtape for September. It is only on rare occasions these days that the three architects of Dream Weapons, Moahaha (♌︎), Sadhu Sadhu (⟡) and Prabha Devi (☾︎), join forces, but this was an opportunity we couldn't turn down.

Three minds were sent racing into the void to collect sounds and sighs captured on tape from all corners of the globe. The tracks were shared and listened to and carefully put in order, artwork created, blurbs written and off it went into the ether, off to Palestine, to perfume the air of different realms -Prabha Devi

Dream Weapons present: THE GARDEN PARTY C60

Fifty-odd years ago an eccentric billionaire, globetrotter, collector of beautiful things and all-round degenerate throws a garden party for the ages. Strange and unrealistic things happen behind the scenes, while people dance and enjoy themselves all over the mega-mansion. Dream Weapons present: ALL IN THE GOLDEN AFTERNOON C60

Dream Weapons present: PERENNIAL FLOWERS C60

Sing and dance along to melodies that sound like something your grandparents or rather great-grandparents could have spun at parties or in their spare time. That is if they were lucky enough to enjoy such things as parties and spare time... plus had eccentric but nevertheless impeccable taste - and owned a record player.

-Here's another wilted floral grouping of largely unheard six to eight decades old «popular music», revived. Twenty-two memorable, but strangely forgotten tunes that deserve our love and attention. This time slightly melodramatic and moonlit oldies with only a couple of fun novelty songs added in between the haunting and the heartbreak. Mostly musical expressions that hardly exist in our vocabulary anymore. Yet to me these pre-Fab Four era gems, speak directly to the heart -Moahaha

«Nostalgia for a time you've never known». These tunes will make you long for those carefree summers long before you were born. Yes its truly gorgeous stuff. Some of you may recognize the cover art’s resemblance to Drawn From Memory. That’s because this is its fraternal twin. So I might as well re-use what I wrote then.
