Dream Weapons present: AGE OF GOLD C60

Was the post-war era of 1950-1960 an age of gold - or a golden age? I don’t know, probably for those who were young back then. Youth is everyone's golden era, so I could have written exactly that about almost any period of time. But post-war is surely better than war. I stole the title from Bunuels surrealist movie L’Age d’Or (well, the english title), because it has this nice, nostalgic ring to it. By now it probably goes without saying that: here's another hour of intercontinental golden oldies! Guess I said it anyway. Nothing but highlights here! I think that every single time I share a mix though -Moahaha

Antropocen & Distant Drums reuploads

I don't know for how long these have been unavailable, but at some point one of our older file transfer accounts... died. And these two 2016-mixtapes (DWp's 14th & 32rd) only had that one download-option. Let me know if you stumbled over any other of our mixes that needs a reupload. Just click on the image to get to the original post:) -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE WELCOME PUNCH C60:

I threw a party for my birthday not long ago, and on the cover you can see me eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first guests. The idea was to compile music for that first hour at a party - or any kind of festive gathering. There’s a lot of considerations to be taken. It’s basically background music for conversing, but it needs to be fun and hold a semi-danceable beat - although no one’s gonna dance just yet. If you don’t have a party planned sometime in the near future, pour yourself a drink, play this  - and pretend. That’s the magic of music -Moahaha

-For the four of you that downloaded the mix shortly after I posted it: I had to take down and re-upload everything, as there was a strange "skip-issue" with song no. 4 (White Salt) - now replaced with Sahara

1 Franco Micalizzi - L'ultimo Cacciatore (Seq. 5)
2 Jef Gilson feat. Célia - Le Blanc Coton
3 Jackie DeShannon - Effervescent Blue
4 Hans Stockhold - Sahara
5 Kirsti Sparboe - Hvem Har Sagt Jeg Savner Deg
6 Catherine Spaak - Sogni E Niente Più
7 Jacques Loussier  - Clara's Jerk
8 Ellie Greenwich - You Don't Know
9 Retta Young & The Devotions - The Dawning of Love
10 Orkest Ruud Bos - Sexy Music
11 Maria Creuza - Amor de Mae
12 Etienne Cap and his Orchestra - Luna Di Miele

13 Hagood Hardy & the Montage - I'll Take Love

17 Hiroshi Wada - Suzukane No Michi

Dream Weapons present: (STOP AND) SMELL THE ROSES C60

It’s summer and sunny outside. I feel that it's time for another golden hour of oldies.  Eleven songs and (as often before) eleven matching instrumentals. Like my previous «A Million Dreams Ago» this collection contains nothing but oh so lovely, long forgotten* non-rockin’ delights from the 1950’s. And that’s what the world needs right now. At least here in my world -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE HUMMINGBIRDS C60

Outside my window its all grey and the rain is pouring down. I find myself in need of a mindtrip with a summerly sort of vibe. Which is exactly what I’m offering you all as well.

-The Americas is the natural habitat of the hummingbird and Latin America is primarily where they live. Much like my similarly themed: La Flor De Sur and Southwards before, I’ve collected a dozen sweet old songs and almost as many (dance) tunes - either originating from, or inspired by musical traditions from  somewhere south of Miami. Or maybe south of Key West. Once again prepare yourself for melodramatic voices, great melodies, infectious rhythms and much beauty! -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE WILD ONES C60

This time I wanted to compile the ultimate soundtrack for a non-existing B-movie. Let's say its an unnecessarily violent, mildly entertaining Bonnie & Clydeish cash-in flick with a killer score and a moderately large cult following. Something like that.

-Gorgeous themes, groovin’ tunes, hip chansons, soul bangers, occult psych, far out exotica… its got a little bit of everything. And the action seemingly takes place on several continents. Yeah this one was mostly put together to entertain myself - and you. It almost qualifies as a "party mix" -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: REMONTANT C60

Seems we’ve all withered away for the most of this year and everyone's in need of a reblooming. But spring is nowhere near and all we can do is dream.

-So let your mind wander whilst listening to this bouquet of twenty reascended tunes from when the world was young. Visit our planet’s past ports and harbours, dance and drink your way through ballrooms, jazz clubs, saloons, opium dens, bars and castles. Make a stop in some small countryside village and smell its fresh, unpolluted air. Highbrow, lowbrow, in tears or laughter - a tragedy or a comedy. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re free -Moahaha

20ft Radio & Dream Weapons present: SUNWARD C60

https://yadi.sk/d/wSUO9cjJbHerEQ

Exotica tends to get lumped into the easy listening-section. But although a thing of beauty its often got a remarkably eerie and dramatic atmosphere. A lot of «serious music» is surely an easier listen… Anyway to spice things up a little extra in between all the hip beach and jungle-soundscapes I’ve managed to dig up seven wondrously exotic vintage songs for you as well. If you dig this stuff even half as much as I do, you’re in for a real treat! -Moahaha

1 The Islanders - City Under the Sea
2 Zespół Instrumentalny Marka Sewena - Cubanacan
3 Annette Hanshaw - Maui Girl
4 Hector Zazou - Le Passage de la Frontière

Dream Weapons present: DISTANT DRUMS C90

Distant Drums is my attempt at compiling an exotica or rather just an exotic-sounding mix - or maybe a few tunes here simply remind me of the sun and the ocean. Anyway I decided not to allow myself to include any of the usual suspects. I've loved the sound of this criminally underrated genre ever since I got Martin Denny's A Taste of Honey for free at a flea market a little over 20 years ago (hardly exotica and far from being among his best, but it did the trick). So here's a light, gentle and deliciously inauthentic 90-minute tour around everywhere in the world westerners consider east or south -Moahaha

1. Helen Merrill - Mountain High, Valley Low
2. The Surfmen - Tahiti Sunrise
3. Herbie Mann - Incense
4. Korla Pandit - Kumar (1958 vers.)
5. Dilip Roy - Camel Rider
6. Leo Addeo - Blue Hawaii
