Dream Weapons present: LITTLE BLACK BAG C90

 https://yadi.sk/d/Q37hbZiyor7RhQ

While waiting for the next 20ft Radio-mix to broadcast I figured I might as well brush up on - and share another one of my pre-Dream Weapons C90's. Its probably brand new to most of you blog visitors anyway. Upon relistening I enjoyed it way more than I though I would. An unpretentious, non-conceptual bag of freaky fun, I think. Eight years ago these tunes were all ultra obscure (even Drowning in Berlin & Yeweyn Haregitu).

-An eclectic mix of japanese waltzes, vintage electronics, strings & discobeats, fast flowing chanteuses, fun rides, badtrips, space-sweeps, and some occult jazzfusion. Once you opened this Pandoras purse and unleashed all its mysteries and dark little secrets, there's no turning back
-Moahaha, 2011

20ft Radio & Dream Weapons present: DRAIN CRYSTALS 2 C60

We're back! There's been a few real life complications that has prevented us from posting lately - a computer crash amongst them. But we have no intentions of quitting although this is our...

100th mix (hurrah!) and we had HUGE plans but the only thing that materialised is this follow-up to the first Dream Weapons-mixtape ever posted. So here it is: approximately 20 minutes of conscientiously selected music from each - all in a Drain Crystals-mode. Which means intimate, gentle, darkly gorgeous and haunting but nevertheless strange music - covering most of those genres and styles you’ve all grown accustomed to from Sadhu Sadhu ⟡, Praha Devi ☾︎ and Moahaha ♌︎︎. Cheers!

Dream Weapons present: OSIRICA C60

https://yadi.sk/d/BJhng6bG3ZBKGx

OSIRICA is admittedly a bit of a ADHD mix, keeping on track only for a couple songs at a time before steering into the abyss. I planned it that way, so I hope you can just enjoy the songs for what they are, and see that they do follow some twisted path in my mind at least.

Dream Weapons present: TANTRIC MIRROR C60

While Prabha Devi is drinking fancy cocktails (or more likely, Old Munk & 7up) under a palm somewhere in India, I'm stuck up north in what seems like an endless winter. I have no idea if you can tell by listening to this though. Tantric Mirror is a split where Prabha Devi did all of side B and I, obviously, did side A. Containing new and old favourites from us both. Well, they are all old... but you get it. Enjoy!

Dream Weapons present: LOW FIDELITY C60

Low Fidelity is another mix with quite a few interwoven genres. From memories of hearing Bobb Trimble the first time in Mikael's apartment in Copenhagen in the late 90s early 2000s, to songs recommended by Paul Welller of all people, this mix follows no tracks and just rises and drops in random fashion. Plug in and enjoy the ride, or stop off and check out one of our other 80+ mixtapes.

P.S. Nefertiti was added before news of France Gall`s death, so a little unexpected homage as well.

Dream weapons present: EXPLORADORA C90

https://yadi.sk/d/ROK46JuRIhhy_A

An exploration of mysteries, melancholy, love, death, religion, good & evil... plus other important stuff. Exclusively and exquisitely sung or spoken by a cast of female voices (sans a duet and probably a mixed secondary school choir - or maybe two).

Exploradora is the Spanish or Portuguese word for "female explorer". Yes, like the Dora in that horrid animated educational show. Join inn on a voyage in sound where every continent on Mother Earth except Antarctica is explored, represented and heard.

In short: much beauty, but darkness lurks

Dream weapons present: STRANGENESSES C90

-In particle physics, strangeness («S») is a quantum number assigned the value −1 for one kind of quark, +1 for its antiquark, and 0 for all other quarks; the strangeness of a hadron is the sum of the values for the strangeness of its constituent quarks and antiquarks.

«hah! these tunes don’t sound particularly strange to a sonically experienced listener such as myself» you may think to yourself sometime during its first fifteen minutes. That’s because I’ve also taken into consideration the data from Large Hadron Collider that has recently proven the existence of a whole new class of subatomic particles, called Pentaquarks - formed of two up quarks, one down quark, one charm quark, and one anti-charm quark. Obviously.

Jencik is also a 20+ year record store employee & he's been the head music buyer at Reckless Records for over a decade.

"Fuzzy frequencies are one of my favorite things and I was interested in showing how well they can work in different genres of music whether it be lo-fi noise rock, shoegaze, synthesizer music, African rock, folk or black metal. Dream Weapons present: EPISODES OF INSECT LIFE C90 - an NTS radio special.

A collaboration for NTS radio containing nine songs from Sadhu Sadhu (who also compiled this mix), Prabha Devi and Moahaha each. Its really Dream Weapons Present: Dream Weapons Present - but I kept the strangely apt title of the L.M Budgen-book I reworked for our cover art instead. «He filled their listening ears with wondrous things» is its subtitle - and what we aim for.

Dream Weapons present: GHOSTIN THROUGH NEITHERLANDS C90

or

Not sure this title sits well with any native speaker of english but it makes sense to me. A ghost story of the sort that might have given you a good scare as a child, but maybe not so much if revisited as a grown up. It won't give you nightmares anymore but the dense, haunting atmosphere is still present. Childhood memories both from experience and fiction when magic and the supernatural felt just as real as reality.

Dream Weapons present: DEAD BUT DREAMING C90

or

Its only occasionally as gloomy as the title and cover suggests. I just like the sound and looks of it.

-Picture yourself floating in some sort of limbo whilst semi-consciously drifting in and out of dreams. Some of them pleasant and beautiful while others eerie and dark but every time you you're about to grasp what its all about, the scenery changes. Perhaps forces of good and evil are fighting for your soul to keep. I don't know I've never been dead – and I don't have a soul. Far out! - but almost gentle enough to qualify as a relaxation tape.

Do yourself a favour and listen all the way through or else you'll miss out on Mal Waldron's stunning farewell.

Dream Weapons present: THE EXECUTIONER'S SONG c90

...and the road leads to nowhereis the first line sung in «Blow Your Brains Out», the opening song. But after a handful of seductive folk/pop-tunes followed closely by various southeast-asian grooves and the likes, overlapped by some avant-weirdness & doom-laden baroque - this road has actually lead you to the guillotine (dripping with the memories of the people it had seen) of The Excecutioner's Song

I think of this mix like a road movie in music – a road-horror movie perhaps. Open, adventurous, dreamlike and surreal for the first parts of the trip but true to the genre it takes a darker turn and ends in (bloody) tragedy.

https://www.mediafire.com/download/4l3c0ssdsy70b4a/FILLING_THE_INFINITE_BETWEEN_TWO_SOULS_C120_DRMWPN21.zip

"Ajay Saggar has been immersed in music since he was a baby. His Indian parents filled the house with Bollywood soundtracks from the 50s,60s and 70s. On moving to England in 1976 at the age of 11, Ajay was spoon fed punk rock by John Peel through his nightly radio show. He started buying records shortly afterwards and has never stopped. His musical palette has expanded vastly since then and music was and is his life.

He plays in the bands KING CHAMPION SOUNDS, and DEUTSCHE ASHRAM. He has worked as a sound engineer for bands like My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Mogwai, Sleater-Kinney, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Aerial M, Mum, The For Carnation, Sebadoh, etc etc. Currently employed at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, music is everywhere!"
