Dream Weapons present: PRESENT TENSE C60

I have to admit that I’m a little proud of this one. It is the sort of mixtape I would have loved for someone else to have compiled - and for me to discover. Twelve compositions released in 2024 and two from 2023 is about as present tense that I’m capable of. Actually it’s way beyond my capabilities in that regard. I made a  playlist titled «Strange Beauty», and somehow this hour of pristine musical gems materialized from within it. Almost.

-Whether leaning mostly toward the traditional, experimental, electronic or ambient - all fourteen compositions can safely be filed under «Modern Classical». In retrospect, I might as well have kept my playlist-title, as these are all strange beauties to my ears -Moahaha

1 Alice Hebborn - Saisons - Mouvement 2
2 Laura Masotto - Dark Horse
3 Bruno Sanfilippo - The Feast of Crows
4 Christopher Cerrone - Beaufort Scales. I & II
5 Malcolm Pardon - Side Effects
6 Kirin McElwain - Work
7 Ljudvägg & L.T. Fisk - Försvinna, återvända

8 Jasmine Wood - VII
9 Laura Cannell and Lori Goldston - Lying Beneath The Earth
10 Snowdrops - The River
11 Watine - Unbroken Fields
12 Sarah Neufeld, Richard Reed Pary, Rebecca Foon - Georgia
13 Lauré Lussier - 4th Movement - Allegretto
14 Otto A. Totland - Mirror

  1. Hi Moahaha, you're right to feel a little proud of this one. My musical tastes are very eclectic, but your mixtapes always open me up to something new. I've been playing your Jazzu Kissa, Spatial Jazz, and Ten Portals Of Initiation mixes again lately. Thanks so much for doing it, and have yourself a Happy New Year.

    1. Hi. Happy New Year and thank you. Being proud of a mix is a bit weird, but I felt like I had compiled something quite unique, I quess:). You're obviously the type of music listener these mixtapes are made for... Open to something new (or rather unheard) and with eclectic tastes.

    2. It might seem unrelated but what actually is in the bigger picture of pen ultimate unity? It regards a letter of support from an African/French artist Dane Belany (whom you have published on your blog) against a defamatory and political persecution of Philip Gwezh "le Guerriseur Incroyable" the Incredible Healer, from France back in the 90's. He had helped her recover her health after being infected by the HIV blood scandal, that originated in the 80's and has been discovered to have been perpetrated in many countries the U.S, the U.K included. Dane was vehemently supportive of Philip in re-establishing his snow white record of God's Gift to healthening the Earth, Humanity, her animals and Plants ! Here are his websites after decades of persecutions he lives on and came to save my life too, twenty years ago.www.fireburndoctor.com

    1. I just replied to a "complaint" in the comments of my previous post that "I compile these for my own pleasure and joy first and foremost". While that's true, I wouldn't have kept at it without comments/feedback such as yours... and pretty much everyone that tells me my shares make a difference of sorts. Thank you for the compliment on the artwork as well.

    1. That's awesome Big Sun. Thank you. Although I've ended up locating quite a few favorites and treasures over the years, the atonal 20th Century Classical/Modernism is largely lost on me. But in the 21th Century, it feels like "Western art music" is more open, inviting and willing to communicate with an audience. Generally speaking.

    1. Thank you! Although not a "fun listen", it was a fun challenge to compile and present it.
