DJ every once in a while. And lately I’ve been doing these more or less monthly vintage Soul nights. Focusing on that glorious late 60’s - early 70’s era when sweet Soul Music got progressive and fused itself with Psychedelic Rock, Jazz, Funk, African music and whatnot… Often with orchestral arrangements, ethnic percussion and various keyboards. But never forgetting to groove. I love it, and so it seems, does the people attending.
Needless to say there’s A LOT of practically unheard gems waiting to be discovered. These are all some of my recently discovered, favorite obscurities. About 3/4th of this selection have already been - or will be played at my own club nights. This means no balladeering, and that you can dance your way though the whole mix. If you feel like it. I was thinking that daytime in the ghetto are for the daily struggle, while night-time is playtime. Plenty of concerns about injustice and the state of the world, but just as much love problems/love making. This should be a fun ride for you all. Enjoy! -Moahaha
-This mix/compilation wouldn't have been half as great if it wasn't for the AMAZING FunkMySoul-blog. If you enjoy this, you shoud most definitely check out their shares - and spend some time over there.
