I've gotten several concerned emails (and a few comments here) lately, so I'll reply to you "all" here.
First, thank you for caring! I have occasionally hinted I might not have the time to continue compiling these mixtapes. Previously it's always been a false alarm. But this time it's not.
My life is different now than it has been during the ten years I've been posting quite regularly here. I have to focus 100% of what I actually do for a living, which leaves 0% for my labor of love (I love what I do for a living as well though:). I'm sorry. I'm afraid that's just how it is.
Since Drain Crystals was posted here in November 2015, I've counted 276 additional entries here. About 260 of those feature either 60 - or 90 minutes of carefully selected, largely overlooked, unheard or forgotten music. I haven't counted how many there are of each, but there has to be at least two and a half weeks of music here to immerse yourself in. So until my life takes another turn, and I have more time to spare than I've got for the time being, I'm sure most of you can find plenty of yet unheard stuff to listen to in our Mix Archive. As far as I'm aware, it's all still available. I just learned that Pixeldrain removes any file that hasn't been downloaded for 60 days. I did a quick check and so far only the two latest Xmas-mixes were gone (naturally). I'll reupload those in late November.
I'm grateful for all of you that has stuck around over the years an posted supportive comments. Also everyone that cares deeply enough for music of all flavors and styles to quietly appreciate our shares. I'm glad there are so many kindred spirits out there. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered doing this for over a decade.
From looking at download stats and streaming numbers, I know Dream Weapons present has reached many thousands. Not bad for a rather anachronistic way of sharing and listening to music (but outside of physical, it's still how I personally listen to music). The broadcasting of our shows on Radio AlHara every second and fourth Wendensday each month is still ongoing. But it's the mixes already shared here, so it's maybe not all that interesting to you. It keeps DWp: somewhat alive for me though.
-I wish you all the best. Sincerely, Moahaha
Btw: Sometime in October, I think, a C90 I compiled last autumn will be posted here. It was a commission, so I have to wait for them to premiere it, for me to post it here. Also Crazy Monkey has compiled a few, but I haven't had the time for doing the finishing touches - or think about them at all really (except for feeling guilty).
So at least there's this one to look forward to in a not too distant future. So sorry, not a link. Just a teaser:

Thank you for years of amazing music!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that it's appreciated, PlagueDream.

ReplyDeleteThanks for having joined in on this journey - maybe there's something left for you in the archives to discover still.

ReplyDeletelove this site. its expanded my music world. thanks for your work.
ReplyDeleteKae
Thank you Kae! The main reason for doing this was always to try and introduce all this wonderful, yet unheard music I've kept discovering almost daily. I figured if I loved it, there's a great chance others out there could love it to:)
DeleteDear Moahaha, many thanks for the time you spent and the incredible music you shared!!! I'm still digging into it. I wish you all the best for the future, greetings from France
ReplyDeleteThank you so much fellow music lover in France! Enjoy your continued digging, and I'll try and make sure to keep everything up and available for as long as possible.
DeleteThanks for all the great music you have shared in these hallowed pages. Along with every one else who visit this excellent site, you have introduced us to great music and many artists that would never have passed through our orbit. For that you should be very proud, a true service to this music loving community. I wish you all the best for the future and thank you once again Moahaha.
ReplyDeleteZipper! You've left a comment under so many posts here, and I'm very thankful for it. Either a "thank you, looks interesting" just before you're about to stream/download, or that you've enjoyed it after given it a listen. That combined with knowing you're open to all this differnt music, tells me something about you. So thank you ! I wish the same for you and your future. Best, Moahaha
DeleteDear Moahaha! As with so many things in life we take for granted your amazing effort in finding and bringing us so much spectacular music has been taken for granted by me and I sincerely apologize for never telling you how much your endeavour means to me. Your mixtapes have brought me so much joy and discovered so many stories that I can't even begin describing it but let me just say that my late father loved the music I discovered here and shared with him and couple of those songs ended up playing at his funeral because he wanted so. Hope it's just a farewell and not a goodbye, all the best with your job and in your life! Love from Croatia
ReplyDeleteDear good person in Croatia. No need to apologize. You are more than making up for not having commented here earlier, now that you did. I'm sorry for your loss. Reading about you and your late father (may he rest in peace) touches my heart. Deeply. Sharing my passion for all this forgotten or overlooked music comes first. I can only hope that some of what I love, speaks to people who share that passion.
Delete-I see no reason for me to state a final goodbye. Not in the sense that it has to be the last you'll ever hear from me. Perhaps it's a farewell for now. I really don't know. Thank you and all the best from Norway to Croatia, Moahaha
Mohaha, I well understand how IRL stuff interferes with the (often) more pleasurable activity of sharing and getting music in places like this. I join the others in thanking you for all of the great comps you've shared here. Also, like others, I'm looking forward to Hypnagogic. I can't quite read the track listing but I suspect you're correct about the cover image telling the tale. Best of luck with your current and future endeavors!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! И спасибо!
