Its a little misleading that this collection of «modern»-or psuedo classical tunes visually ended up resembling a religious mass. But the mood sort of fits + I love the Wilhelm Bernatzik painting that I used and just kept its title. Too much sentimental nostalgia for some I’m sure. But autumn is coming up and I need these melancholic adagios of unbashed beauty like I need my warm blanket, my book and my mug of hot cocoa.

Once again: what a great Mix. While i was sobbing everyday since holy warbles died, you cured the wounds. So glad i found ya
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you Till! We sobbed every day too - until we did something about it... glad you found us and wonderful to know that our mixes can heal wounds.
DeleteHmmm... I've been thinking of the warbling owl quite a bit the last few days. The blog and the mighty, mighty music that I was turned on to. Been retracing some tracks.
ReplyDeleteAnywho.. I, too, have enjoyed your mixtapes, Moahaha, since I first discovered them on Holy Warbles. I have discovered many a new sound through your tapes and RYM.
Thanks again for shining a light.
Thank you for the kind words Big Sun... you too shine a light of course. Yeah, if it wasn't for सølγ שаябlɛş this place wouldn't exist - at least not in the shape it does.
DeleteThank you Moahaha for this romantic automnal promenade through misty landscapes. Best. Armand
ReplyDeleteThank you for a "romantic automnal promenade through misty landscapes". Dead on as always. Come to think of it there's both a turkish and an armenian composer included and the (to me) goosebump-inducing "Duet in the form of a fugue" is about as close to autumnal and misty that music can get.
DeleteDear Moahaha, I appreciate very much what you do. Although Fazil Say is relatively well known it's a mystery to me how you discovered Vladilen Aleksandri Balyan. I found a russian lp at Discogs (still available) and that's all. There are a lot of "obscure" armenian composers and oftentimes they have changed their names or have several origines. It's always a pleasure to discover them. Thank you again.
DeleteThanks Armand,
DeleteYes considering the amount of recordings I easily located by the turkish composer/pianist - I figured he was quite famous. As compared to finding next to nothing by Balyan (=that russian album on discogs). All I got is this fugue from an lp presenting various Armenian composers.
warm blanket, book and mug of hot cocoa are absolutely what we need.
ReplyDeletetotally OK with this mood !
Tuck yourself in BOBBY Vééééé - glad you kan relate!
DeleteEnjoying this one - thanks, Moahaha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jaco I'm really pleased to learn that you - and seemingly all our visitors are open to just about any of our approaches to compile a mix. Not that this one is anything extreme... its just different.
