There is quite literally an infinite supply of unheard musical treasures of the past to dig for, discover, love and to share. Here’s fourteen highly spirited grooves from the wide world of Jazz, 1967-1984. It’s been quite some time since last I shared one of these, and the gems have been piling up. Although the bulk of my selection originates from the West, many of the tunes are inspired by various folk traditions of the East. As often before, I might add. I’ve always had a soft spot for musical fusions of this sort. It never fails to lift my spirits -Moahaha

-also while collecting all these links, I noticed I had used Harold Mabern - Alex the Great for both Sunspots & Ten Portals...! Which is why I'm offering Paz - The Buddha as its replacement for the latter mix. Just click on the image underneath and download the song. You'll find the edited cover art attached to the mp3-file (download button on the left).
+a couple of weeks later I found another one: I've used Hiroshi Sato - Jōdo for both City Lights and A Trip to the Garden. I'm attaching a link to (the much better fit) Okay Temiz & Johnny Dyani - Orient Trip as replacement for the latter mix:

Hey CM! Thank you for the email. I will reply thorougly - later today or tomorrow. We'll figure something out. I think I have a sort of "low-barrier"-idea that will get us going and suit us both.
DeleteHey, sorry. Finishing replying is taking me a while. There's guests from afar visiting, dinners to make/attend, wine to drink etc...
DeleteDon't worry, I've been thinking about writing to you for about 15 years. I can wait a little longer without any problems if life allows it.
ReplyDeleteI can't determine what is the style of this pretty music?
ReplyDeleteI think all the musicians involved share that they operate within - or come from a place of jazz. But what jazz can be, mean and used for, is essentially limitless.
DeleteIt's at the same time romantic, meditative, ethnic, picturesque and ambient! The collector of all these albums on this site has delicate taste and big heart! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI take those compliments to heart, so thank you!
